Phuket Island is well known as a vacation destination for beaches, a tropical atmosphere, and unsurpassed natural beauty. Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is 48 kilometers long and 21 kilometers wide. Phuket has some of the most diverse scenery of any island in the world.

Phuket Island is divided by a mountain chain that runs down the west coats and provides a lush tropical backdrop for sightseeing and taking in Phuket Island's natural beauty. The rest of Phuket Island to the east is flat but the terrain is varied providing many types of natural beauty. From broad sandy beaches, limestone cliffs, and hills topped with tropical fauna, to lagoons, estuaries, and hidden caves, Phuket Island has a wide array of natural beauty for visitors to enjoy.

Kata beach is covered in spectacular tropical scenery with tall flowing trees and lush tropical vegetation. Only a few kilometers north of Kata is Nai Yang Beach, whose natural beauty is much different and includes majestic Casuarina trees. Patong beach is the most famous beach on Phuket Island and has a unique natural beauty. Patong beach is 4 km long and is surrounded with beautiful mountains covered in lush green vegetation. Patong is the most developed of all of the beaches on Phuket Island but retains its natural beauty with its clear blue water and white sand.

The beaches of Phuket Island are not the only places where natural beauty abounds. The interior of the island has lush tropical rainforests and Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is a great place to experience the natural beauty of the forest. There are also mud flats and mangrove swamps in Koy Sirey. The east coast of Phuket Island has its own natural beauty with limestone outcroppings mad famous in the James Bond movie shot there. The west coast has huge granite boulders that are truly a spectacle.

The natural beauty of Phuket Island has survived even with all the development and the booming tourist industry. There are sights for everyone from the white sandy beaches on the coasts to the lush tropical rainforest in the interior. Phuket is truly an island of unsurpassed natural beauty that any vacationer can enjoy.
