Phuket Island is rich with activities and entertainment all set in a beautiful tropical paradise. Phuket Island has a rich history and visitors who wish to learn more about the history, traditions, and natural wonders of Phuket Island should visit the island's museums. There are three main museums on Phuket Island and each will teach visitors about the history and indigenous items of Phuket Island.

Thalang National Museum

The Thalang National Museum is filled with information about the history of Phuket Island. It is located on Pa Khlok Road, just a few meters to the east of the famous Two Heroines Monument. The museum is open from 08.30 to 16.00 hrs. all year round except holidays. At the Thalang National Museum, you will find information about the Battle of Thalang, the indigenous people's way of life, Thai culture, and the history of Phuket and the South. You will also find information about the culture of the Sea Gypsies that are found in the area.

Phuket Seashell Museum

Another great museum to visit while vacationing on Phuket Island is the Phuket Seashell Museum. This museum is privately owned and located on Wiset Road, Tambon Rawai, Maung District. The Phuket Seashell Museum has an incredibly wide variety of seashells form Thailand and around the world. There is also a huge display of ancient shells, some dating back millions of years. The Phuket Seashell Museum is only a few years old but attracts many visitors with its beautiful seashell displays.

Phuket Rare Stones Museum

There is also the Phuket Rare Stones Museum located on Thepkasatree Road. The Phuket Rare Stones Museum is open from 9.00 to 18.00 hours everyday. You will be amazed at how many rare stones are found in Thailand and at how beautiful they are.

Wat Phra Thong and Wat Chalong

There are also Buddhist temples located on Phuket Island that deserve exploration. Wat Phra Thong and Wat Chalong are two of the most popular temples as tourist destinations. You can learn a lot about Phuket history and religion from visiting these beautiful temples. Don't forget to visit all these great places while staying in Phuket Island as they provide great insight in Phuket's history and all the natural wonders Phuket Island has to offer.
