Patong is the heart of the nightlife scene on Phuket Island. There are beer bars, go-go bars, clubs and discos. There are also bars that have cabaret shows, the most famous being the Simon Cabaret House who's show is known world wide for its lively and colorful action. Patong is known for its risqué company and is the local hangout for the island's "ladyboys" as well as women who will accompany you for the evening. There are plenty of bars without women for take out or "ladyboys" as well so anyone can enjoy the nightlife in Patong beach.
If you are looking for a little more laid back nightlife while staying on Phuket Island, you can try Karon or Kata beach. Each of these beaches has bars and clubs, but they are not nearly as noisy and crowded and Patong. You can get a great feel for Thai nightlife in a quieter environment. If you want to really experience traditional thai nightlife, you should consider visiting Phuket Town. This is where all the traditional bars and hangouts for the locals are. Foreigners are still welcomed although Thai is mostly spoken in Phuket Town bars. It is not uncommon to see visitors hanging out at these traditional places learning about Thai culture.
The nightlife in Phuket Island is as diverse as the scenery and not matter what type of entertainment you like, Phuket Island has something for you. If you like lots of action and many people, lively Patong beach has the perfect nightlife scene for you. If quiet or traditional nightlife is more your style, Karon beach, Kata beach, or Phuket Town are good choices as well. With all the diverse nightlife on Phuket Island you are sure to find a place you love.
