When traveling to any destination there are just some things a tourist needs to know. Phuket Island is no different. Some of the more common questions like what is available and what is not should be addressed before heading off to any destination. Phuket Island happens to be the largest island, 540 square kilometers, in Thailand. This would put it at about the same size as Singapore. Just a little over an hour from either Singapore or Bangkok, it the the perfect holiday getaway. Even if it is just for a weekend of amazing fun and relaxation.

Most generally the business hours for offices and such are from 9am to 5pm. There are certain holidays in which they are closed. However there are Saturday hours from 9am to Noon. The shops and local stores are open for visitors and guests between 10 and 11 in the morning and stay open until 10pm.

The banks on Phuket Island are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. There are certain branches of the banks located in different shopping centers who keep later hours. You can even find these branches open as late as 7:00 or 8:00 pm. The branches also have Saturday hours. Visitors can find the currency exchange booths open 7 days a week for 12 hours each day. It is nice to know there are ATM's available throughout Phuket Island who use the international banking networks. This means Cirrus and Plus are available to tourists and guests. Just for further information the rate of exchange is currently 31.48 Baht to 1 U.S.dollar. Always check before traveling so you know the local rate of exchange.

The electric for Phuket Island is 220 volts. Standard plugs are used. This means either the flat two pin like in the United States or the European round style. If you happen to need an adaptor any of the local stores should have one.

You will find that most of the digital memory cards and other camera related products are available on Phuket Island. There is even two hour film processing and digital processing should someone need it. Disposable cameras abound on Phuket Island. The area is so beautiful it is hard to walk away without taking more pictures.
