Visiting Phuket Island, Thailand, for the first time can be overwhelming. It can even be frustrating. There are so many things to see and do on Phuket Island, Thailand you almost don't know where to begin. Almost every hotel has numerous brochures for visitors and sometimes this only makes you more confused.

Obviously, the first thing to do is make a plan. List places you want to go, and all the attractions you want to see. The next thing to do naturally is the directions and finding out just how to get to each place.

The best way to see Phuket Island, Thailand's west coast would be to rent a car. This way you can stop when and wherever you want to. Not to mention you can stay at one place or attraction for as long as you want.

The west coast of Phuket Island, Thailand is filled with beaches and scenery to enjoy.

A car park called Phromthep allows you to park your car and walk up the steps to the viewpoint which is absolutely breath taking on Phuket Island, Thailand. Although there are several different viewpoints on Phuket Island, Thailand the viewpoint near Nai Harn Beach reveals a Buddist temple below.

This viewpoint also happens to be one of the windiest spots in all of Thailand. You will see the proof of this as you will be standing in front of several huge white windmills.

Kata is also a good place for first time visits to Phuket Island,Thailand. Aligned with beautiful palm trees. Restaurants, bars, hotels, boutiques, and great souvenoir shopping spots line what is known as the main drag, which is really Patak Rd.

Patong Beach is commonly referred to as party central for Phuket Island,Thailand. But there are several places of interest for first time visitors of any age.

Considerations for first-timers to Phuket

  • Taking extra precautions when driving around blind turns and junctions. Not a lot of caution is used by drivers in Thailand.
  • Keep to the left of the road, of course.
  • Remember to have plenty of gas in your car, gas stations close early and aren't open at night.

However, if you for some reason you don't want to drive or have a fear of getting lost on Phuket Island, Thailand, there are several "drive by tours" go just about anywhere. Different locations all over the island.

Simply keep in mind these tours go have timed itineraries which may not allow you to stay in one place on Phuket Island,Thailand as you'd like.

Phuket Island, Thailand is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your visit no matter what you plan to do.
