Laguna Phuket International Marathon
The Laguna Phuket International Marathon 2009 invites the Phuket community to take part in the 5Km Walk which will be held in conjunction with the marathon on Sunday, 14 June 2009 at 8:00am at Laguna Phuket.
In 2008 more than 800 walkers took part in the 5K walk with a large number of them raising money for charity. Leading the way were the associates of Laguna Phuket who raised funds through sponsorship to build a new roof and drainage system for Baan Klong Sai School in Phang Nga province. This year the charity activity will be open to all participants and groups,giving everyone the opportunity to help the school. For race entry information and group registration forms please contact Group Registration Manager, Khun Mattie on mattie@goadventureasia.com. For non-group registrations please register online. The entry fee for the 5 K Walk is THB 200 and includes a race number, Nike singlet, finisher medal and food after the race. Registration deadline is 6 June 2009.
The race pack including number and Nike singlet must be picked up at the 2-Day marathon expo held in the big marquee at the Laguna Beach Resort Y-Junction start and finish area on 12 and 13 June from 10 am to 7 pm. Songkran on Phuket is one of the most fun few days of the year and is based on the birthday of Bhudda and celebration that ensues revolves around throwing as much water over people as you can.
If you go along the roads into cat on the 13th of April you will be sprayed, covered, shot at by water cannons off and thoroughly drenched in a good humoured display of brotherly for affection all because her daughter was born over 2500 years ago on this day.
Traditionally a few drops of water were dropped on to the hands of monks and the Elders of the village. The water represented cleansing and that's the religious beliefs behind and the extravagant party of today were based on purity more than fun. The paragraph
Patong's famous nightlife goes wild once water is added to the bar scene and a night in Phuket during this festival is one of the most colourful and amazing experiences in Thailand.
