I agree with everything the previous reviewer said. We too chose this hotel because needed a place to stay in Phuket because we arrived too late for the ferry to Phi Phi, and chose one in Phuket town to be close to the ferry for the next day.
This hotel was fairly standard quiet comfortable and nice big rooms more than adequate for one night.
We used the pool and enjoyed being able to cool off after some hard walking around town. For a city hotel great view from the bedroom.

Booked through hotelATM - Phuket based, highly recommend. We needed a place to stay in Phuket because we arrived too late for the ferry to Phi Phi, so we weren't too bothered about the type of hotel. We chose one in Phuket town to be close to the ferry for the next day.
This hotel was fairly standard - not the height of luxury, but quite adequate for one night. A really good breakfast spread the next day. It is right in the heart of Phuket, so only a few minutes walk to the tourist shops and malls.  Rita Lynnwood
The Royal Phuket City Hotel was a stunningly beautiful hotel property - the rooms are well appointed and beds very comfortable. (We had two children along as well. Lots of attention to detail, down to imprints in the ashtrays! (A design pressed into them.) They have a most exquisite coffee and croissant/pastries shop, (and more!), don't recall the name, just off the lobby, where we had the absolute best coffee in Thailand. Would stay there again. Enjoy.

Has the feel of a business hotel but then then again Phuket Town is not a typical tourist spot - we only stayed after ferry back from phi phi to wait for our flight in the morning. Having said we enjoyed walking around, shopping and seeing Thailand from a slightly different perspective. Cheap and good value with nothing to fault.  Miko
I was on few business trips to phuket and found that Royal Phuket City was cheap and good.
Wifi internet access is available in the hotel but only available at 14th level and above. Please get a room above 14th if not, you would landed up reading emails at the hotel lobby just like what my colleagues did staying on the 9th and 10th.
Lounge at the lobby is good if you like oldies and you can even karaoke or sing there. Hotel overall is clean and the room is quite big.
Convenient stores opposite the hotel when you need items. On the side of hotel, night market and a good and famous Chinese restaurant about 10 minutes slow walk away. Location is good in the heart of the city.

Very friendly, helpful staff made our stay here a pleasure. Lovely lobby area and coffee shop and the most unbelievable fitness area/gym I have seen in any hotel ever! Nice simple lap pool, comfortable seating and very clean. Nice rooms, my bed was a little hard, but this was something I endured throughout Asia, the beds are generally very firm. Lovely breakfast buffet, inclusive in the very reasonable room price served in the restaurant on the top floor with a panoramic view from the windows or out on the deck. The Royal Phuket was a so-so hotel en route to the islands. My brother & I (both mid-20s) would have preferred to head to straight to Phi Phi island but the ferries only run 1-2xs earlier in the day... Amazing food and nice restaurant

We stayed here for one night after flying into Phuket & waiting for the ferry to Koh Phi Phi the next morning.

Agree with a lot of the reviews already posted that the hotel is getting tired and despite the facade is pretty unremarkable. Service wasn't particularly great, restaurant seemed wildly overpriced... Getting very tired
