If you love water sports, a vacation to Phuket Island will give you many opportunities to participate in the water sports you love. Phuket Island has all types of water sports so no matter if you enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling, waterskiing, windsurfing, or sea canoeing, you will not run out of water sports while on your trip to Phuket Island. There are different water sports offerings at each of the 17 beaches around Phuket Island and depending on the time of year, conditions will be perfect for the activity of your choice.

The dry season, from December to March, is the best time for most water sports, including waterskiing. The main beaches along Phuket Island, like Patong, have speedboats and equipment for rent. If you want more of a challenge, you can visit Phuket Water Ski Cableways, located in Kathu. They have an artificial lake with overhead cables that tow wake boarders and skiers around a rectangular course. It is more challenging than skiing behind a boat but worth the trouble if you love water sports.

Another popular water sport on Phuket Island is scuba diving. Conditions for diving are best between November and May when the seas are calm and there is no rain. The beauty of the ocean around Phuket Island is unmatched anywhere else in the world and scuba divers can experience whale sharks, manta rays, coral reefs, and a variety of other beautiful marine life. No matter what your skill level, if you want to scuba dive Phuket Island has programs to accommodate you. From beginner to advanced, there are many dive training sites around the island as well as boats that take guests on scuba diving excursions.

Water sports such as snorkeling are also popular on Phuket Island. The west coast of Phuket Island is the best place for snorkeling as the waters are shallow and calm. Snorkeling is best during the dry season (December to May) and every beach on the west coast of Phuket Island has masks, snorkels, and fins for rent. If you want to experience snorkeling farther out than the beach, there are many boats that will take tourists out to great snorkeling spots.

Windsurfing is another popular water sport on Phuket Island. The beaches of Bang Tao, Patong, Kata and Rawai are the best places to go for calm seas and to find advice on windsurfing. You can rent windsurfing equipment from any major beach on Phuket Island, however. The dry season is the best time to wind surf as the seas are calmer.

Phuket Island also has sea canoeing around the marine caves of the area which are unsurpassed in beauty. You can take a tough sea canoe or kayak and explore these caves at low tide. They are open to the sky and filled with tropical fauna making for a beautiful experience. Water sports abound on Phuket Island so no matter which activity you like, you can find it on Phuket Island.
