Karon is around two kilometers long and is the second largest of Phuket's tourist beaches. Large resort complexes line the road behind of the shoreline, but the long, broad beach itself has no development. The sand is very white, and squeaks audibly when walked upon. The southern point has a fine coral reef stretching toward Kata and Bu Island, which is great for snorkeling.
Restaurants, bars, tour companies and other non-hotel businesses are at the north end, near the traffic circle, and at the south end, on the little road connecting the back road with the beach road. The narrow road between neighboring Kata Beach and Karon has a number of small businesses as well as the Dino Park Mini Golf facility.
Karon Beach Karon, is the second largest, most developed of Phuket Island's idyllic beaches. It is an hour's drive from the airport, and 15 minutes away from Patong Beach. Karon Beach is an ideal family destination if you have kids. In contrast to Patong Beach, it is relatively quiet, relaxed and rarely crowded. It is a haven to which you can retreat to get away from the crowds and the bars.
Karon Beach Karon Beach is 3 miles of fine white sand. The sand actually squeaks when guests walk on it. There are sun beds in a single row along the beach for a relaxing day in the sun. If you prefer a less populated area, the north end of the of Karon Beach is generally quiet.
