The government will be closing Maya Bay from 1st of June 2018 to 1st October 2018. This is done to allow natural rejuvenation.
While the itinerary will exclude Maya Bay, it will give time to explore some of Koh Phi Phi's other dramatic but less visited reefs, beaches and coastlines.
Phi Phi Island became famous in 2000 when Leonardo Di Caprio was filmed in Maya Bay, Phi Phi Ley in his movie 'The Beach'. The sheer drama of the scenery, an almost perfect collision of jungle cliffs, deep ravines, sandy beaches and an aquamarine sea, made the movie an instant draw for the island.
On top of these natural draws, the island has over 20km of coral reef, many of which are ideal for snorkelers, even though the islands are a mecca for divers. The tour takes you to some of the best reefs where you can see an unimaginable array of colourful tropical reef fish.
Phi Phi has, for many, some of the top 10 beaches in the world, including Maya Bay, Tonsai Bay and Loh Dalum Beach. With all this, it is no wonder that everyone must see Phi Phi Island!
